Horizontal Directional Drilling

This is a construction technique where we drill a designated area to install a pipe underground. This technique is most often used for water, sewer, fiber, and power lines. Pipe sizes can also vary from 1 inch to 30 inches and more in diameter.

Logging and Locating

Glory Utilities LLC will provide Digi Trak Bore Logs for each completed bore by using equipment such as Receivers, Terrain Mapping, Transmitters, Displays.

Glory Utilities LLC will contact the NC 811 system for locates and will pothole all locate utilities prior to any underground work taking place.
All drilling slurry and cuttings will be removed from the site and properly disposed of by Glory Utilities LLC.

Horizontal Bore Mapping

Glory will review the bore map to determine how many feet will need to be drilled to complete the job and what size pipe is required. Once the pipe size is determined, we contact the supplier to get a quote for the pipe size and footage amount needed. This estimate is used in bid proposals sent to our Clients for approval.

Pre-Bore Planning is essential in the Horizontal Directional Drilling workflow.

We ensure the project will be completed in a safe and timely manner.

  1. Survey the path that we need to bore
  2. Develop the bore profile, including the pull-back space
  3. Develop the scope of work
  4. Develop a bid proposal with contract terms and conditions with the Client
  5. Meet with the Client to look at job site and discuss any additional information that may need to be completed for the job
  6. Once the bid is approved, Glory will contact 811; this will ensure that all requisite permits and authorizations, including buried utilities, are completed before starting the job
  7. If a desired completion date is not established, we usually begin work once 811 tickets are clear and our schedule allows

Soft Hydro Excavation

This is the process of removing soil from an area with pressurized water and a vacuum truck. This is the most effective way to complete the job without leaving a mess.

Vacuum Trucks suck up dirt blown away from underground pipes to make the area tidier and easier to work. Soft hydro excavation can also be done by hand with a shovel. Being able to use a shovel allows Glory to get into the areas where the excavator could not get in.

Hard Hydro Excavation

Glory uses this method to break up rock. A water jet is directed at the rock, and the resulting slurry is then vacuumed up and removed.

Hard Surface Core Drilling

Hard Surface Core Drilling refers to the process of using a hollow drill to bore holes through rock.

Fiber Optics Engineering

Fiber optics is a placement of both underground and aerial fiber.

For underground, fiber optic cable is placed in a conduit system, which is buried through plowing, trenching, jack and bore, multi-directional bore, or directional bore techniques
For aerial, fiber optic cable is placed on top of utility or telephone poles

Inside Plant Builds

Glory installs telecom cabling and equipment.

Rock Drilling

Glory uses a machine (a hammer drill or piston drill) for making holes in rock. We use cutting edges to work against work-piece, cutting off chips as it is drilled so that it will be easier to hammer through the rock; this is tunneling.
